Political Science: Global Politics Option

The global politics option requires a total of 36 hours in political science: 11 courses plus 3 or more credits International experience.

Required Courses

  • POL S 101: American National Government
  • POL S 102: Introduction to Comparative Politics
  • POL S 103: International Politics
  • POL S 201: Political Research Methods
  • POL S 427: United States Foreign Relations
  • Two additional Global POL S Courses: 305, 314, 405 [M], 418, 424 [M], 428, 429, 432 [M], 435, 447, 472 [M], 474, 475, 476
  • 6 hours (2 courses) POL S electives
  • Students must earn at least 3 credit hourse while completing one of the following "International Experience" requirements:
    • Study Abroad: POL S 276 or 277 (at a WSU approved program)
    • International internship: POL S 497 (must be approved by POL S advisor; either abroad or in a U.S.-based internship that includes global activities)
    • A minor in a foreign language (18 credits) or global studies.
    • Military Science 402 in the ROTC program
University Writing Requirements
  • Two (2) Writing in the Major [M] courses (6 hours) from POL S 404, 405, 412, 424, 432, 438, 442, 446, 447, 450, 460, 472, 476
  • Junior Writing Portfolio/Qualifying Exam (portfolio and proficiency exam required no later than first semester after earning 60 credits)
Foreign Language Requirement
  • 2 years high school or 1 year college (in same language)
