Political Science: General Option
The general option requires a total of 36 hours in political science, at least 15 of which must be earned at WSU.

- At least 3 hours from American politics: POL S 206, 300, 301, 305, 317, 375, 402, 404 [M], 417, 420, 446 [M], 450 [M], 455
- At least 3 hours from comparative and international politics: POL S 314, 405 [M], 418, 424 [M], 427, 429, 435, 436, 472 [M], 474, 476 [M]
- At least 3 hours from public policy and public administration: POL S 301, 316, 340, 416, 430, 432 [M], 443, 445, 446 [M], 447 [M], 448
- 18 additional hours of POL S electives
- 12 hours of upper-division social science or humanities electives beyond GERs (to be selected in consultation with the political science advisor)
- 3 hours from ENGLISH 201, 301, 402, or approved course

University Writing Requirements
- Two (2) Writing in the Major [M] courses (6 hours) from POL S 404, 405, 424, 432, 438, 442, 446, 447, 450, 472, 476
- Junior Writing Portfolio/Qualifying Exam (portfolio and proficiency exam required no later than first semester after earning 60 credits)
Foreign Language Requirement
- 2 years high school or 1 year college (in same language)
