Scholarships memorializing Frank Potter, the first teacher of philosophy at Washington State University, are available to help junior and senior philosophy students defray the cost of tuition. The school also offers a series of Young Philosopher Scholarships available to freshmen and sophomores.
Applications accepted during spring semester are normally for scholarships to be awarded for the following academic year. However, students entering WSU may apply for scholarships when applying to Washington State University.
Philosophy majors tend to do very well in competing for other scholarships and awards. For example, in a recent two-year period, 8 of the 12 Phi Beta Kappa Scholarships (full tuition for one year) awarded at WSU were won by philosophy majors.
