Scholarships can play a vital role in funding your college education. The scholarships listed here are administered by the College of Liberal Arts.

Ellen Abelson Graduate Fellowship
For communication graduate students, with preference given to journalism majors.

Andrew Jackson Birch Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a Pullman High School graduate. Preference will be given to Albion residents and children of Moose Lodge members.

Barbara Bird & Lilyiane O'Neal Special Needs
For liberal arts students with special physical needs.

Agnes Busek Brenneis Scholarship
Awarded to high school seniors from W.F. West High School in Chehalis, Washington. One male student and one female student award is made each year.

Burgess Brothers Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students studying the liberal arts and humanities.

College of Liberal Arts Future Cougars of Color
For liberal arts students of color.

College of Liberal Arts Scholarship
For liberal arts undergraduate and graduate students, awarded by the dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

Edith & Edwin Dumas Scholarship for Excellence
Undergraduate scholarships for College of Liberal Arts students.

Evelyn W. Hacker Scholarship, Colonial Dames
Awarded by nomination of department chairs to male or female students of junior standing or above. Awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership ability. Awardees are chosen by the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century scholarship committee.

Evelyn W. Hacker Scholarship, Daughters of the American Revolution
Awarded to liberal arts male or female students of junior or senior standing or above in recognition of leadership ability. Awardees are chosen by the Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship committee.

Sidney G. Hacker Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Fund
Scholarship awarded to a senior in the spring of their junior year through the Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Contact department chairs or Robert Ferguson at 509-335-7151.

Florence George Handy Endowed Scholarship
For female liberal arts undergraduate and graduate students.

Jack Sr. & Mary Elizabeth Howard Scholarship
Liberal arts majors with 3.5 GPA for freshmen or 3.25 GPA for sophomores through grad. Students must show financial need.

Bret D. & Roger D. James Memorial Scholarship
Humanities students with a 3.0 GPA or above and that have a demonstrated solid academic performance and a lifelong commitment to learning.

Horace & Agnes Keeney Scholarship
Alternates between music and theatre arts majors and communication majors.

William C. & Charlotte M. Kruegel Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior in liberal arts who demonstrates the ability and initiative to build his or her life toward making a contribution for the betterment of the world in which they live.

Dr. Edward R. Meyer Scholarship
Liberal arts scholarship with preference given to the environmental sciences and forestry.

Dick Miyagashima Endowment Fund
Scholarship to support special student experiences in the liberal arts.

J. Horace Nunemaker Scholarship
Awarded to students of junior or senior status, based solely on the ability and initiative of the student to build his or her life toward making a contribution for the betterment of the world in which they live.

Frank & Irene Potter Memorial
Scholarship awards to graduate students or junior or senior undergraduates who are liberal arts humanities majors, with preference in philosophy.

Rockie Family Scholarship
Scholarship in liberal arts with preference given to students who major in fine arts, English, music, and environmental sciences.

Scott Family Scholarship
For Edward R. Murrow School of Communication students, with preference given to incoming multicultural students.

Howard & Shirley Strobel Scholarship Fund
Awarded to a student with high achievement, financial need, and demonstration of degree progression, or in the top 25% of their high school class.

Study Abroad in Asia Scholarship
Students must have completed a minimum of 6 hours in Asia Program courses and be at least a sophomore. Other criteria exist. Apply through the Study Abroad Program.

Albert W. Thompson Scholarship
Awarded to a currently enrolled WSU student studying at a foreign college or university. This scholarship is awarded by nomination of advisor or department chair. Apply through the Study Abroad Program.

Marie Baarslag Brown Wright Study Abroad Scholarship for Nontraditional Destinations
For any student studying abroad in nontraditional countries, with preference given to study in Africa or the Middle East. Apply through the Study Abroad Program.
