Assistant to the Dean
Lisa provides operational coordination, administrative support, and project management to the dean, often on complex and confidential issues, and performs and/or oversees a variety of administrative, fiscal, staff support, and planning activities that often have college or university impact. These responsibilities include:
- Serve as primary point of direct administrative contact and liaison with other offices, individuals, external institutions, and agencies on a wide range of issues.
- Provide assistance and support with problem solving, planning, and management of special events and other projects; developing and executing stated goals; staffing of staff searches; assist with development of long and short term plans.
- Coordinate and complete schedules and materials for faculty review, tenure and/or promotion, annual reviews, professional leaves, internships, contracts, and other activities.
- Obtain and provide specific information, research various issues, recommend solutions, coordinate and assist with policy matters; prepare and write materials and correspondence that are highly sensitive, confidential, and complex in nature.
- Coordinate dean’s office calendars, schedule dean’s appointments, and ensure appropriate follow-up; prepare documents for meetings, produce minutes as needed, keep accurate records and files, coordinate specified administrative activities and reporting across multiple organizational units.
- Hire, train, and supervise the office assistant(s). Provide and direct support activities such as phone calls, mail, resolving problems and inquiries, receiving visitors, reviewing routine correspondence, maintaining deadlines, and follow-up on operational commitments.
- Implement and interpret guidelines, procedures, policies, and practices. Coordinate the preparation, update, and distribution of college policy manuals.
- Other duties as assigned.
