Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance & Reasonable Accommodation
The College of Liberal Arts ADA representative provides the constituents of the college with coordination of efforts and responsibilities in providing program accessibility and equal opportunity for people with disabilities and will address aspects of the legal requirements including accessibility of facilities, accommodating employees and students, modifying and providing assistive technology, and accommodating people with disabilities attending public events. The college ADA rep shall assist administrators, deans, department chairs, and the university ADA compliance officer in developing and implementing an effective plan for complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act and all other federal and state laws that address the needs of people with disabilities and will focus on identifying areas of noncompliance and training opportunities for personnel in the college. When necessary, the college ADA rep shall assist CLA leadership in responding to complaints of unlawful discrimination and other workplace climate issues, including referral to HRS or the ADA compliance officer when necessary.
